If you are a new student PLEASE READ....

What to bring...
- a well-rested, hungry pup

- a regular collar or harness and leash (no prongs, chokes or flexi leashes please)
- LOTS of soft, yummy treats; I suggest several different kinds and values, ie: kibble = low value, string cheese = medium value, hot dog = high value (you know what your dog will find high vs low). TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! There will be plenty of distractions, even in a private setting. Something new and novel will help combat all the distractions and keep your pup on task. ;-)
- your pup's other favorite motivators (tug, ball, whatever)

- water bowl (we can provide the water)

- a notebook/pen for class notes
- Athletic shoes and appropriate clothing for working outdoors.

A bit about treats: We will be using LOTS of treats at first. You will want treats that are soft and easy for your dog to chew/swallow. PLEASE NO CRUNCHY BISCUITS OR ZUKES (dogs can choke on these when excited)! Try bringing treats that your dog would consider special and very motivating. You will also want to bring several varieties for different value rewards.

Some examples:

- low value - kibble

- medium value - cheese (string cheese works great!)

- high value - hot dog, steak, pepperoni, baby food, peanut butter, etc.

**Remember** a REWARD is something your dog loves, not just something convenient for you. Your dog will let you know what he likes best! Remember, if you have a small dog you will need to make your treats itty bitty so he doesn't get full too quickly.

**You will go through LOTS of treats at first, and your pup will have a lot of different distractions to deal with.

We will be working outdoors in a dirt/sand arena. Please arrive prepared to be outside. Please wear athletic shoes! Bridget reserves the right to not allow a student on the field without safe footwear.
