Through a series of video tutorials you will learn step by step how I teach skills to my dogs. You will be able ask questions and post videos for feedback as often as you like. Each tutorial will vary in the number of “lessons” depending on the complexity of the skill. Tutorials will remain available to participants for approximately one month after the “class” ends.
Skills and drills exercises will be included to test and proof your training.
Tutorials will be through a private Facebook group. Treat them as your own private lesson!
Threadle: A Threadle is a maneuver where the dog takes an obstacle, then comes between two obstacles to take the next obstacle in the same direction. Threadles are very popular in all of the international venues as well as AKC Premier classes, USDAA and UKI classes. It is very popular in agility right now to have this maneuver almost purely on a verbal cue, and with good reason! On today’s courses we don’t have time to babysit and depend on handling and body cues to make things happen.
In the class we will be starting from the ground up training and building your dog’s understanding of the behavior. We’ll then add a verbal cue and proof the heck out of it through fun games, drills and exercises to make sure your dog truly understands what you are asking of him.
This class will run on a Facebook platform. It is a two month long class (plus a bonus month of access to play catch up) with at least one lesson posted per week. Students may work at their own pace and are invited to ask questions and post videos of their own for feedback as much and as often as they like. Class cost is $45 and class begins Monday, June 8th.
Students will need access to a barrel/cone and one to two wing jumps later in the class (you can make wings out of cardboard).
